Sony is known for not following the stereotypes of the smartphone world. Instead of it, this brand always brings something new to the table and target only a specific set of audience. First by bringing 21:9 aspect ratio displays and now by coming up with the device which will suit cinematic geeks. With a 21:9 aspect ratio, you can watch videos and play games with more screen in the hand and enjoy the experience. Yes, it was the story of Xperia 10 but with Xperia 1, it is different- totally aimed at film-makers. But, how does it fare as a general flagship smartphone? Let’s check it out in the Sony Xperia 1 review below:
Design and Display
Once again Sony has gone for 21:9 aspect ratio which makes it bit taller but narrower from the sides. Just like Xperia 10, this one also looks very similar. Not only this, it has exactly the same dimensions as the Xperia 10 Plus. This device looks premium, solid and sleek in hands. On the back panel, there is a Corning Gorilla Glass 6 for protection on the metallic frame. Xperia 1 comes in four color variants: black, white, gray and purple. The back panel makes this device premium which is a bit fragile too. On the right, you get to see a volume rocker, fingerprint sensor, small power button, and camera shutter button. These many buttons on the right edge make this device unique in itself. Also, there is a USB-C port for charging the device. You can buy this device online using Mobikwik Add Money Offer with great offers.
Coming to the display, the Sony Xperia 1 packs a 6.5″ 4K OLED HDR display with a pixel resolution of 1644 x 3840 which sounds very pretty on-paper. In real-time, the display performs equally good but the maximum brightness is low. The front is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 6 and the device is also Water resistant (IP65/68). The color come out accurate and vivid. It is a good display but not the best one, which we would have loved to see in this premium price tag. But, for binge-watchers, this can be an oasis in the desert.
Under the hood, the Sony Xperia 1 has a high-end Snapdragon 855 chipset which is coupled with 6 gigs of RAM. The device packs 128 gigs of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 512GB via a microSD card. The brand has gone with the flagship processor which will make this device run smoothly and without leaving any stutters behind. If you are looking for gaming, this device won’t disappoint you at all. Games like Fortnite and Asphalt 9 run smoothly on this device even at high graphics renders.
The Sony Xperia 1 will run Android 9 Pie out of the box which will give you the pure stock Android feel.
Sony’s Xperia 1 has packed three camera sensors behind the panel including a 12MP primary sensor, a 12MP telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. Sony isn’t going with the 48MP primary sensors to attract customers. Instead of it, they are keeping it real and elegant. The pictures come out really good with a nice amount of aesthetics and detail. The color accuracy was super fine and so does was the depth capturing. The only problem is the device’s camera- it is not the quickest one. But, if you love to shoot videos rather than taking photos, the built-in Cinema Pro app will come in very handy for you. You can capture some amazing video shots using this app. And, this thing makes this device’s camera stellar!
The Sony Xperia 1 houses a high-capacity 3,330mAh battery which might seem below average to many users. For a phone which can shoot at 4K resolution and packs high-end software, this is a genuine concern as the battery will rust fast. But, it can easily give you 12-14 hours of life on a single charge which is fair. The device comes with a fast charger and supports fast charging capabilities which can charge the device amazingly fast.

The Sony Xperia 1 is focussing on the ones who love to take videos- bit inclined towards cinematic geeks. The built-in Cinema Pro app will come in very handy to make films on the smartphone. Still, it is only aiming for a tiny market. The device packs some stunning features like high-end display, a flagship Snapdragon 855 processor, stunning triple-camera module, and smooth software. The only problem with this device is its underperforming battery. Comparing it to Samsung Galaxy S10, and Google Pixel 3, this one doesn’t bring much on the table in terms of a futuristic and modern approach. Still, it is a great device to have if you are a cinematic lover, love to shoot videos and want to have a great performing device. Additionally, if you are looking for a technical assistant job then it could be the best chance to try it.
